Crypto Payments Arrive for Dubai’s Government Services
Dubai residents can now look forward to using crypto to pay for public services, thanks to a new agreement between the Department of Finance and Crypto.com. This marks a major fintech advancement.
The agreement was finalized during the Dubai FinTech Summit and was signed by government representatives and Crypto.com UAE’s president, Mohammed Al Hakim. It underscores a shared vision for digital integration.
Following the completion of technical integrations, Crypto.com will enable individuals and corporate clients to use large-cap cryptocurrencies to pay service fees through its secure platform.
To preserve financial system integrity, these digital payments will be instantly converted into Emirati dirhams and transferred to Dubai’s government accounts. This process ensures regulatory adherence.
The collaboration also simplifies everyday transactions. Citizens will soon be able to pay for things like parking and utilities using popular crypto assets directly from their digital wallets.
Dubai is actively working to fulfill its 2026 target under the “Dubai Cashless Strategy,” aiming to achieve 90% digital transactions across all government and private sectors in the city.
Al Hakim celebrated the initiative as a global first, showcasing how Dubai is once again setting standards for tech adoption and fintech innovation on the world stage.
